Sterling Boulevard Quarterly Cleanup and General Maintenance
The Sterling Foundation began over 35 years ago with a singular mission: to maintain and beautify Sterling Boulevard, our hometown’s main street. Unlike other major thoroughfares, the wide, natural median on Sterling Boulevard is not maintained by the Virginia Department of Transportation. To prevent this community centerpiece from falling into disrepair, the Sterling Foundation took on the responsibility of mowing and landscaping. We are honored to uphold this commitment and take it very seriously.

Each year, we partner with a local mowing company to keep the Boulevard well-maintained. For 2024, we’re proud to collaborate with American Lawn Brothers, who will provide their services to mow and landscape the Boulevard. We’re grateful for their support and the positive impact it brings to our community.
Additionally, we organize quarterly Sterling Boulevard Cleanups in February, April, July, and November to keep our main thoroughfare clean and inviting by picking up litter along Sterling Boulevard.

For General Maintenance throughout the year, we trim trees, prune bushes, and beautify the areas around the "Welcome to Sterling" signs, creating a tidy and welcoming environment for all.

Equipped with safety vests, orange trash bags, and litter grabbers, our volunteers make a significant difference each season. Years of maintaining the Boulevard have inspired us to expand our efforts in strengthening and beautifying our community, and we invite everyone to join us in keeping Sterling Boulevard a vibrant, welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.

Maintenance of the Boulevard relies on our many fundraising Events and mowing sponsors, as well as the generous work of our many Volunteers. We hope you’ll Get Involved in our efforts and help us beautify our hometown!
